Description
The Olds S-20 bass trombone is a vintage gem from the 1960s (This horn is from 1969), known for its rich tone and solid craftsmanship. It features a dual bore slide (.554″/.565″) and a single rotor valve, making it a great choice for tenor trombonists transitioning to bass. The bell is a 9″ yellow brass design, and the horn uses Tuning-in-Slide (T.I.S.) rather than the more common tuning-in-bell setup.
Players often describe its sound as dark and colorful, with a responsive feel that works well in both jazz ensembles and concert bands. It’s considered a “small” bass trombone by today’s standards, but it holds its own with a distinctive vintage character.
This trombone has been professionally serviced and is ready to go! The lacquer is only about 35% there and there are a few dings, but the bare brass gives it a great vintage look!
