There are both “D” and “N” models out there. There are two variations of “N”. One has a diamond surrounding the Noblet, sometimes a double diamond with the “N” inside of a small diamond at the top of and inside of the larger diamond. These are all model 45’s and are the more desirable models. The models with either an oval or a rectangle with rounded corners, often called the television screen logo, are model 40’s. The oval logos are “D’s” and are the older ones. The 45’s have better resale value and are very nice intermediate to semi-pro instruments, but that is not to say that the model 40’s are not excellent intermediate instruments. The 45’s have at least one variation, the “Artist”. They were made with “select, aged wood”. Very fine instruments. Some of these 45’s play as easily and as well as a Buffet International. All of these instruments have the very sturdy Leblanc keywork.
