The Selmer Mark VII saxophones were introduced in 1975 as a successor to the iconic Mark VI. This particular saxophone has a serial number dating it to 1976, making it an earlier Mark VII. The “M” in the serial number seems to have no meaning, but some believe the “M” denotes a Tenor Sax made with a Mark VI body, since the serial numbers changed from “M” to “N” around 1979. There has been discussion that some Mark VI parts were used on the earlier line until they were used up. This instrument is in excellent condition.
